The endless Washington bickering was supposed to end with the election, right? In the words of Borat: NOT.
So this is Rep. Marcia Fudge (D – Ohio), the chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus, accusing Sen. McCain of “sexism and racism” because he criticized U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, Susan Rice, for her comments made on the Sunday Morning talk show circuit.
Let me be clear: Susan Rice, the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, said on televisions across the United States that the attack on Benghazi was a “spontaneous reaction” to an anti-Muslim YouTube video. Shortly thereafter, it becomes blatantly obvious that the attack was not a “spontaneous reaction” to an anti-Muslim YouTube video. So, John McCain went on Fox News and said, “Susan Rice should have known better and if she didn’t know better, she is not qualified.” Then on CBS This Morning, McCain said Susan Rice was at least guilty of “not being very bright, because it was obvious that this was not a ‘flash mob’ and there was additional information by the time she went on every news show in America.”
This is all very obviously a cry for attention in some direction, but does any of this look like racism or sexism to you? It looks more like McCain questioning the legitimacy of claims that turned out to be one-hundred percent completely and totally false.
Sure, the GOP needs to re-work itself and find better messages to broaden its voter base, but at some point these ridiculous Democratic cries of racism, sexism, and bigotry need to be ridded from Washington; they just aren’t true. Look at the evidence!
Furthermore, anyone who is being considered to become the next Secretary of State better be under complete and total scrutiny from both sides. This is foreign relations we are dealing with here, not some 30-second campaign ad.
Side note: Does anyone remember the gender or race of Condoleezza Rice, the Secretary of State under the last Republican president?
